Training classes for puppies and young dogs, held at:
All Saints Hall, Kenwood Avenue, Leigh, WN7 2LN
I am delighted to offer two sessions for puppies and young dogs, concentrating on establishing good manners and social skills from the start, helping you connect with your dog in positive ways. Join me in a friendly and relaxed environment as we guide our puppies through this exciting and formative stage of their lives.
Puppies aged up to 6 months, Thursday evenings 6.30 – 7.30 pm
An introduction to the basics of dog ownership, including:-
- day to day handling and care
- basic obedience exercises
- making training fun
- diet, exercise and play
- what to do about those 'problem' behaviours!
Growing pups and adolescents, aged 6 – 12 months, Friday evenings 6.30 – 7.30 pm.
Adolescent Changes and Ongoing Socialisation:
Around 6 – 9 months puppies enter the adolescent stage which can be challenging! Behaviours may be tricky to deal with during this time of physical and emotional change, and it can be frustrating as a previously obedient puppy grows into a more independent dog with a mind of his own! It's important to realise that this is a normal part of a dog's development and, with patience, consistency, and with the right responses from us, we can ensure that they remain friendly, sociable, well-mannered and confident dogs as they approach adulthood.
In these sessions we will be covering:-
- maintaining confidence and good manners around people and other dogs
- rewarding the behaviours we like - and how to deal with those we don't!
- patience and self control
- improving our handling and timing
- increasing focus and making ourselves interesting (to our dogs!)
- lead walking
- recall skills
Set your own goals for yourself and your dog, work at your pace, enjoying the process. Take away from each session what will be useful to you and your individual dog.
The cost for a six week course is £75. A non-refundable deposit of £30 is required to reserve a place with the remainder payable on week one. A certificate of attendance will be awarded on completion.
Please get in touch to book your place, classes are small and numbers are limited.
*For the benefit of everyone it is essential that dogs attending classes are sociable around other dogs. Any that have difficulties being in close proximity with other dogs in a restricted space may not be suitable in the puppy/training class environment and may do better with a 1-1 approach. If unsure, please ask.
